It would take a heart of stone not to feel sorry for Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita.

The Guinea international has struggled with injuries for most of his three-year spell at Anfield.

But it’s becoming increasingly difficult for the former Leipzig midfielder.

During Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Brighton at Anfield today, Keita lasted only 15 minutes after being forced off the field.

This was six days after the crunching challenge by Paul Pogba which left the Liverpool star needing to be stretchered off at Old Trafford last Sunday.

Keita missed the midweek League Cup win at Preston as a result of that knock.

And now he looks set for another stint on the sidelines, although it remains to be seen how long he’ll be absent for.

The player’s agent, Malick Kebe, has posted a good luck message on Twitter to his client.

He wrote: “Quick recovery to you Naby and get back to us as soon as possible.”

Tragic

There’s definitely an element of tragedy about this.

And much of it is because Keita has been playing so well, having scored in the win at United last week before the Pogba challenge.

He also managed a cracker against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League a little earlier this month.

When fit, Keita is a fine asset for Liverpool and this latest setback is just as worrisome as the rest, given that on this occasion it wasn’t a tackle which did the damage.
