Goal are suggesting that Naby Keita could look to extend his stay at Liverpool.

In a report about the future of Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson, Goal have mentioned Keita as among the players who will be looking to renew their contracts that run out in 2023.

The 26-year-old midfielder is out of contract at Liverpool in 2023, and, along with Henderson, Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Fabinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Keita ‘will be looking to renew’.

New contract for Naby Keita?

Keita has been at Liverpool since 2018, but injuries and competition for places have affected his chances of playing regularly in the first team.

The 26-year-old central midfielder has been largely a peripheral figure at Anfield.

According to PremierLeague.com, Keita has made only 53 appearances in the league for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The midfielder has scored four goals in those matches.

Many Liverpool fans will wonder whether it would be worthwhile to hand Keita a new contract given his injury problems.

However, following the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum this summer, a spot has opened up in the Liverpool midfield.

Keita, who is a dynamic midfielder and can play in a box-to-box role, could replace the Dutchman.

There is no need for Liverpool to start talks with Keita over a new deal now.

The former Premier League champions should see how the midfielder does in the coming months and then make a decision.
