Tottenham Hotspur will want to bulk up their squad in the summer as they aim to take the next step.
Whilst Tottenham will be focusing on their up and coming Champions League final, the transfer rumours are beginning to hot up and Spurs’ name is finally being mentioned with Europe’s top name players.
French outlet Le Parisien claim that the North London outfit are interested in Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir, who has scored 12 goals for the Ligue 1 outfit this season [transfermarkt].
Fekir is an attacking midfielder who will no doubt add bite to Spurs’ midfield if they were to add him to their squad in the summer.
At this moment in time, Mauricio Pochettino has Dele Alli, and most importantly, Christian Eriksen who can play behind the forward man, with the latter more suited to Fekir’s style of play.
But having a more attacking threat in the team will only provide Tottenham with what they have been craving for a number of years now and that is strength in depth.
On his day, France international Fekir can challenge or even prove to be better than the current attacking line trying to prove its worth in North London.
He has the touch and passing ability to fit into Pochettino’s free-flowing style of play and he can be a weapon on the counter-attack with his directness, speed and ability to go both ways.
It has been mentioned constantly that Spurs didn’t sign any players during the previous two transfer windows, but making someone like Fekir their first purchase would certainly make up for that to a certain extent.
Nonetheless, Pochettino and his players will be hoping to secure the Champions League trophy in Madrid on June 1 because adding that to the club’s trophy cabinet will only increase the chances of signing some of Europe’s most talented players.
