This summer saw Tottenham Hotspur allow Nabil Bentaleb to leave the club, joining Bundesliga side Schalke 04 on loan for the rest of the season.
The deal also contains a potential permanent transfer should the Algerian impress in Gelsenkirchen.

It is quite a fall from grace at Spurs for a player so highly-rated at White Hart Lane recently.
He featured 35 times for the club in the 2014-15 season and looked like becoming a regular at White Hart Lane but injury saw him drop out of the team last term. The emergence of Eric Dier and Dele Alli left him scrapping for first-team football and the signing of Victor Wanyama sealed his fate this summer.

However, Bentaleb is unlikely to become as good or as important a player as Pogba has at Juventus and command such a fee – but he might become Spurs’ Nemanja Matic.

Used as part of a deal to originally sign David Luiz from Benfica the Serbian was eventually re-signed by Chelsea at great expense and it is certainly fair to suggest that Bentaleb has all the natural qualities to become as good a player as Matic has.
In a few years’ time, if Bentaleb is permanently sold, Tottenham may find themselves looking for a player of exactly his mould to improve the side – when the question will then be asked regarding the foresight in his sale.
