The 2016 Rangers recruit made his long-awaited debut for Steven Gerrard’s side at Ibrox last November.

The mystery surrounding the Rangers winger Serge Atakayi appears to have been explained.
Atakayi has barely been seen since his summer return to Rangers from a loan spell at Seinäjoen Jalkapallokerho.
And a cryptic message posted via the 20-year-old’s his Instagram account on Monday – in which he pled to play football again – led to suggestions that he may be seeking a move away from Ibrox.
Atakayi, though, was named among the substitutes for Rangers Colts’ 2-0 defeat against Partick Thistle the following evening, replacing the injured Brandon Barker late on.
And in an interview with Rangers’ TV channel afterwards, the DR Congo-born player was asked how it felt to be back on the pitch after a spell of his own on the sidelines.
“Feeling good,” replied Atakayi. “A little bit tired. Long time, no play. Looking forward to Thursday (when Rangers’ first team host Legia Warsaw in a Europa League qualification tie). Just keep training hard, keep pushing, so I will be there.”

Signed three years ago from FF Jaro in Finland, the country in which he spent his adolescent years, Atakayi made his long-awaited Rangers debut during last November’s demolition of Motherwell at Ibrox, but suffered an injury that very same game which kept him out for the best part of the next four months.
