Could Leeds United youngster be in this evening’s Carabao Cup squad?

Leeds fans celebrate their team's victory during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Derby County at Elland Road on November 29, 2014 in Leeds, England.

Leeds United youngster Kun Temenuzhkov was a surprise omission from the club’s under-23 match with Huddersfield Town on Monday.

This has led to suggestions the Bulgaria youth international could be in line for a place in Leeds United’s first team squad to face Leicester City in the Carabao Cup this evening.

Leeds have a big game against Sheffield United in the Championship at the weekend, and may want to rotate their side and rest first choice striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga.

Kun Temenuzhkov was a surprise summer signing from Barcelona, and has been named in The Guardian’s list of top 60 young talents in the world.

The teenager is still adapting to life in England, but a call up to the bench, or even involvement with the squad would be a real moment to savour for the youngster.

Fans have been quick to ask whether Kun’s absence from the under-23s side is due to involvement with the first team tonight.

Now there is a possibility that Kun’s absence is for the opposite effect; that instead of being promoted to the first team squad, he is dropping down to the under-18s for more game time.

After a bright start to life with the under-23s, goals had dried up for the young striker in recent weeks.

It would be exciting for fans to see him involved in the first team squad, but an opportunity in the Carabao Cup may at this time be too much too soon.
