Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has told BBC Sport that the club are in talks to secure the services of Shved from Karpaty Lviv in the January transfer window.
According to The Scottish Sun, the Ukraine international winger will cost the Hoops a transfer fee of £1.75 million.
Former Ukraine manager Markevych has criticised the 21-year-old for not working hard enough.
The Scottish Sun quotes Markevych as saying about Shved: “They called him up and played for Ukraine against Turkey. I went to the next game he played for Karpaty.
“It was if he’d stopped working now because he knew once he got a cap he would be able to be transferred for big money.
“It’s like he thinks he’s played for the national team and has made it and therefore he won’t run anymore. It’s very poor from him.”
Worrying for Celtic?
Markevych’s aforementioned comments about Shved are worrying, but Celtic fans should have faith in the club’s board and manager Rodgers.
The 21-year-old is a very talented and promising young winger, and he will get better in the coming months and years.
Perhaps the winger needs to work on his work-rate and has to be switched on throughout the 90 minutes, but one must remember that he is only 21 years of age and is still developing and progressing as a footballer.
Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 45 points from 21 matches.
