Speaking at his Al-Nassr unveiling, Cristiano Ronaldo has seemingly shut down the idea of ever returning to Europe as links to Newcastle United emerge.
Marca reported on Monday morning that the striker has a clause in his contract that would let him join the Magpies on loan if they reached the Champions League, but according to the player himself, he’s not coming back to Europe anytime soon.
Indeed, Ronaldo says that his work in Europe is finished, which seemingly puts the buffers on the idea of him ever coming to Newcastle United.

Ronaldo finished in Europe
The Portugal captain spoke about his career choices.
“In Europe, my work is done. I won everything I played for the most important clubs in Europe and now it’s a new challenge in Asia. I’m glad that Al-Nassr gave me this chance to show and develop, not only for the football, but for the generation, for the young generation, the woman’s generation as well,” Ronaldo said.
“I can say now I had many opportunities in Europe, many clubs in Brazil, in Australia, the US and even in Portugal many clubs tried to sign me.”
End of an era
Whether or not you feel that Ronaldo still has a place at the top table of world football or at Newcastle United, it has to be said that this is the end of an era.
Yes, he’s not covered himself in glory over the past six months, but we shouldn’t forget that this is one of the very greatest players of all-time.
Ronaldo’s swansong hasn’t quite gone to plan, but when all is said and done, his legacy will be about a lot more than an interview with Piers Morgan and playing in Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo is not coming back to Europe, and he’s not coming to Newcastle.
