Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after discovering that Crystal Palace maestro Eberechi Eze was let go by the Gunners.

In quotes provided by the Daily Mail, the former Queens Park Rangers playmaker revealed that he and his mum cried after his release from Hale End as a 13-year-old.

After hearing this news, a handful of Arsenal fans seem pretty disgruntled that their club let a gem such as Eze depart.

In fairness to the Gunners, it’s hard to spot talent at that age, with some players often developing later along the line.

Even Nicolas Pepe – Arsenal’s club-record signing at £72 million – revealed that he only moved outfield at the age of 13, having previously been a goalkeeper.

Arsenal’s official site quote the Ivorian as saying: ‘I loved playing in goal when I was really young but when I was 13 years old, I moved outfield.’

Having said that, Arsenal will surely be kicking themselves that they allowed Eze to slip through the net.

After a stunning season with QPR last term, in which he scored 14 goals and assisted eight more, the former Millwall man earned a £19.5 million move to Crystal Palace, where he has shone so far.

The 22-year-old has one goal and two assists for the Eagles this term, and looks extremely comfortable in the Premier League.
