Speaking on his YouTube channel, Charles Watts has been discussing Arsenal and their interest in Facundo Torres.

The Gunners have been linked with the 22-year-old Uruguayan throughout this week, and there have been some stories claiming that this move is advancing very quickly.

However, according to Watts, this is still at a very early stage, stating that no talks have happened between the clubs as of yet.

Although, Watts does say that talks are scheduled with Edu and Torres’ representatives this weekend, so this could advance further in the coming days.

Arsenal in for Torres

Watts shared what he knows about this situation.

“Arsenal are interested, or they are looking at him. My understanding as it stands is that it is still at an early advanced stage, there have been no talks between the clubs or anything like that. It’s very much going on behind the scenes. This is a move that is being pushed a bit by the recruitment team. That’s how early we are. He’s been identified as a potential target by the recruitment team, they like him and now as far as I’m aware there will be a meeting between Edu and the players’ representatives,” Watts said.

Intriguing

It is intriguing to hear that Arsenal’s recruitment team are pushing for this signing.

The Gunners clearly have a bit of a focus on MLS at the moment with the likes of Matt Turner and Auston Trusty arriving over the past year, and now Torres could follow in their footsteps.

Strangely, MLS hasn’t exactly been the best source of talent in the past, but Arsenal clearly feel as though there is plenty of untapped potential in that market.

This is clearly a situation to keep an eye on as we head towards the January transfer window.
