French reporter Jonathan Johnson has told Give Me Sport that Arsenal star William Saliba will sign a new contract at The Emirates in the next couple of months – after remaining an unused sub for his country in the World Cup.
France cruised to a 4-1 win despite going behind to Craig Goodwin’s opener. A brace from Olivier Giroud, as well as goals from Adrien Rabiot and Kylian Mbappe also opened their account. Ibrahima Konate was picked ahead of Saliba.
But Saliba will just be delighted to be in Qatar, after a brilliant start to the season with Arsenal. His form has been superb. Joining the Gunners back in 2019, his Emirates contract is due to expire in June 2024. A new deal is needed.
Now, Johnson has delivered a huge positive for Gunners fans regarding Saliba’s current deal. He says that according to his information, the impressive Saliba will be signing a new contract at Arsenal in the next couple of months.
“It is my understanding on the French end that there is likely to be a contract extension at some point in the next couple of months,” Johnson told Give Me Sport, news of which will surely delight the Arsenal following.

Johnson: Arsenal star Saliba will sign new contract in couple of months
It should be one of Edu’s highest priorities. In terms of the players that are currently starring in Arsenal’s team, Saliba is right at the top – alongside the likes of Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka. They need to tie his future down.
There have been links to other clubs – but nothing strong enough to concern Arsenal. The Gunners might actually be quite happy to see Saliba on the bench. In that he will not be able to shine on the world stage in front of scouts.
If he had been starting and with Arsenal yet to resolve his long-term future, it might have generated more interest. Of course, that could change later in the tournament. But the good news is, that a new deal is expected very soon.
