Jim White has claimed on talkSPORT that the Tottenham players think Antonio Conte will be their next manager.

On Monday morning, Spurs sacked Nuno Espirito Santo as manager, despite only bringing him in during the summer.

This move by Daniel Levy shouldn’t come as a surprise because the reaction from the Spurs fans against Manchester United was there for all to see – or hear, in that case.

But it seems as though Conte will be the man to take to the Hotspur Way training ground, as Sky Italy report that the 52-year-old will be in London today and talks are at the final stages.

This is what talkSPORT reporter White had to say about Conte possibly returning to London, but this time heading towards the north side.

“It’s my understanding now that the Tottenham players believe that the next man in charge is going to be Conte,” said White.

“We also know that Conte appears to be on his way. That Conte is expected to be in London very soon to complete the deal.

“So, get ready for some hard work and get ready for some fireworks.”

Conte left Inter Milan in the summer after helping the Italian giants win the Serie A title for the first time in a decade.

He also had success with Juventus and thrived during his days in the Premier League with Chelsea.

The highly-demanding coach won the Premier League title – after Chelsea had finished tenth the season before – and then delivered the FA Cup.

The Italian is known for his no-nonsense style – and if you don’t do it his way – then he won’t just show you the exit door, but kick you out of it.

Perhaps that’s what these Spurs players need, especially the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele to name a few.
