Phil Hay has said on The Phil Hay Show in The Athletic that Leeds United want to offload Kiko Casilla in the summer of 2021.

The well-known and well-respected journalist, who now works as the Leeds United correspondent for Leeds United, has said that Casilla is a player the Whites will try to move on at the end of the season.

Hay said about Casilla on The Phil Hay Show in The Athletic: “My understanding is that he is a player that they are thinking of trying to move on in the summer.

“They are going to make changes to the squad, and I think he is somebody that they would like to replace.”

Leaving Leeds United this summer

Casilla has fallen down the pecking order at Leeds and is not guaranteed a place in the starting lineup.

Illan Meslier is the undisputed number one between the posts for the West Yorkshire club, and that is not going to change anytime soon.

Casilla is the second-choice goalkeeper and has made just one appearance in the Premier League so far this season, according to WhoScored.

As a matter of fact, the 34-year-old Spaniard – who joined Leeds in January 2019 – was left out of the matchday squad against West Ham United at London Stadium in the Premier League on Monday evening, with Elia Caprile replacing him on the substitutes’ bench.

It would make sense for Leeds to offload Casilla at the end of the season, but the question is which club would be willing to sign a 34-year-old goalkeeper who has not played much football.
