Speaking on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Graeme Bailey has been discussing Nottingham Forest and their hectic summer transfer window.
The Tricky Trees were by far and away the busiest team in England this summer, signing more than 20 players, but there may be more transfer news to come at the City Ground in the coming days.
Serge Aurier may still arrive on a free transfer according to some reports, while according to Bailey there could also be some outcomings.
Indeed, with the Greek transfer window still open, Forest’s sister club, Olympiakos can still sign players, and according to Bailey, a few Forest players could be headed to Greece in the coming days.
What’s been said?
Bailey claimed that more Forest players could be on their way to Piraeus.
“Yeah, so we saw with Josh Bowler, he moved onto Olympiakos the sister club of Forest. My understanding is that they’re looking at sending a few more players out there, that’s possible because the Greek window has another few days to go. Turkey and Greece are the main two so this week could be crucial for some Forest players,” Bailey said.
“I expect at least another couple to go on loan to Olympiakos in the next week or so.”
Deadwood to shift
With all due respect to some of Nottingham Forest’s players, there’s a fair bit of deadwood within this squad that still needs shifting.
The likes of Lyle Taylor, Cafu and Loic Mbe Soh are all incredibly unlikely to feature in the Premier League this season, so a move to Greece would be a good way for them to continue playing first-team football, while also easing the strain on Forest’s wage budget.
Which players head out to the Mediterranean remains to be seen, but there could be multiple departures from Forest in the coming days.
