Liverpool are still suffering with injuries in a big way.
Last season, the Reds had a rotten Premier League title defence after Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip sat out most of it through injury.
This time around, the absences are spread more evenly around Liverpool’s squad.
Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones, Gomez and Harvey Elliott will all definitely miss this afternoon’s visit of Southampton, while there’s a question mark over Diogo Jota being available.
Keeping players fit is just as tricky this season as it was last time around, although fortunately now there’s a lot more short-term issues.
But the German manager has revealed good news ahead of the Saints clash at 3pm GMT, revealing that nobody else has being struck down with injury since Wednesday’s win over Porto in the Champions League.
He told a pre-match press conference: “My phone didn’t ring this morning about any issues. The players available v Porto are the ones for this weekend.”
Boost
Liverpool just can’t afford to drop anymore points in the Premier League.
And that could and would happen if Klopp loses any more key players, so the fact that nobody else has been sidelined since Wednesday is a rare piece of good news.
Klopp’s side are four points behind Chelsea at the summit, but that’ll be reduced to one with victory over Southampton – and stay that way if Manchester United win at Stamford Bridge.
