Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was left fuming after his FIFA card was downgraded for the 2021 edition of the game.
The 27-year-old told Liverpool’s official YouTube account that it ‘makes no sense’, as his teammate, Trent Alexander-Arnold, laughed in the background to his teammate expressing his anger at his rating.
Even though Liverpool won the Premier League title last season, Oxlade-Chamberlain was a bit-part player, with a lack of form and injuries keeping him off the pitch.
That’s perhaps a big reason as to why the Southampton academy product is 79 rated, as he was also raging at the fact that he has lost more pace.
“That’s disrespectful,” Robertson told Oxlade-Chamberlain regarding his FIFA card
Oxlade-Chamberlain responded: “We have been talking about this. Are you happy? [points towards a laughing Alexander-Arnold]. Are you happy for me? Are you happy for me?
Robertson then added: “You know what, I laughed at the start and then I actually felt bad.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain then shared with disgust: “79?! [Alexander-Arnold continues to laugh in the background]. I think I am the only man who has gone down in the squad. Fourth highest goalscorer last year from midfield. Gone down!
“My pace has gone down every year. It makes no sense! He [Alexander-Arnold] is not quicker than me or as quick as me. I am the lowest-rated man in this building.”
Liverpool’s trophies under Jurgen Klopp
- Champions League
2018/19
- UEFA Super Cup
2019
- FIFA Club World Cup
2019
- Premier League
2019/20
There’s no doubt that Oxlade-Chamberlain’s lack of game time has played a part in him receiving such a low rating.
In order for him to prove the FIFA makers wrong, he needs to do the business on the field and show that he’s worthy of an upgrade.
Without any surprise, the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Sadio Mane and Mo Salah received such high ratings following their success last season.
