Cuba Cline has taken to Instagram to confirm that he’ll be leaving Liverpool to join Leeds after spending six years on Merseyside.
The 16-year-old revealed the news earlier today within an emotional post thanking the Reds for all they’ve done for him.
Cline wrote: ‘It’s been a class six years @liverpoolfc thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way, but it’s time for me to face my new challenge @leedsunited the hard work continues…’
The teenager doesn’t mention why he’s swapping Anfield for Elland Road.
However, we can only imagine it’s got something to do with the pathway to first-team opportunities being clearer in Yorkshire, perhaps.
The young prospect is a completely unknown quantity in the world of football, so much so that there isn’t a shred of information about him on Google.
In that respect, it’s difficult to tell you much about what he could offer Leeds within their youth ranks.
However, one thing worth mentioning is that Leeds are certainly keeping an eye on the next generation with their work behind the scenes.
Before Cline arrived, Marcelo Bielsa’s men moved to sign highly-rated attacking prodigies Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt from Arsenal and Wigan respectively.
Leeds also paid Feyenoord £1.3 million for Crysencio Summerville’s services, and the 19-year-old has gone straight into the Under-23 set-up.
Moves like these won’t dominate the headlines for now, although they represent shrewd business from the Whites in that they’re always planning ahead of time.
One day, Leeds could have some of England’s best youngsters charging around Elland Road in the Premier League – what a sight that would be.
