Eddie Nketiah has stated that his intention this season is to play regular football following a Man of the Match performance for Arsenal against Sunderland.
Speaking to Sky Sports via Football London, the 22-year-old striker revealed that his main ambition is to play consistent minutes. Nketiah has largely played a bit-part role under Mikel Arteta, with the youngster playing just seven games this season and 38 minutes of Premier League football.
Indeed, all of Nketiah’s starts and goals for Arsenal this season have come in the League Cup, with the England U-21 international bagging five in the cup competition as well as making the starting XI in the previous three rounds.
With Nketiah scoring a hat-trick this week against Sunderland, it was the clearest indicator yet that the Hale End academy graduate is ready to play consistent football. And when asked what his motivation is, the youngster gave a clear response.
The striker said: “I am just eager to play football. That is my main ambition. I am here. I am under contract, and as long as I play for Arsenal, I am going to give my all and, if the manager needs me, I will be ready to help the team.”
With Nketiah’s contract with Arsenal set to expire at the end of this season, the striker could make a permanent move from the club in January, with the forward rejecting the Gunners’ previous attempts to sign a new deal.

Nketiah is a talented striker, with his hat-trick against Sunderland showcasing what the forward can do with the right players in the right system. And his performance could some clubs onto his scent in January.
After all, the youngster needs a move from north London sooner rather than later. And Nketiah showed against Sunderland that he is more than capable of playing for a top side regularly.
