Patrice Evra told Sky Sports during their live coverage of Tottenham’s draw at Crystal Palace on Sunday that he has noticed a problem in Hugo Lloris’ game.
The former France left-back shared that his ‘little worry’ for Lloris is that he is ‘always staying on his line’ and he doesn’t come up to ‘claim the ball’ from set-piece situations or even ‘punch the ball away’.
Tottenham conceded their goal against Palace over the weekend following a mistake from Lloris, as both Graeme Souness and Evra shared their thoughts on Tottenham’s man between the sticks.
“If that ball is coming in, if he’s not going to move because he thinks someone is going to head it, he must then assume the ball is going to come straight onto his chest,” said Souness. “I’m not being super critical but is Lloris not entitled to catch that?
Evra added: “I think Lloris is a great goalkeeper. But he is always staying on his line. Sometimes I want him to go up to claim the ball or to punch the ball away. Even after the incident.
“That’s my little worry is that it’s a good reaction on his line, but sometimes I have never seen him from a corner or a free-kick coming out of his line.”

Lloris has always had a mixed time of it in North London following his £8 million move to the club [BBC Sport] in 2012.
On some occasions, he has looked like the player that won the World Cup for his country, but on others, he has been pretty shaky and has always had a mistake in him.
But the Tottenham fans will only judge him on what he has produced recently because he has been outstanding for his side this season.
