Duncan Castles has said on the Transfer Window podcast that Liverpool have the money to bring in a new striker this summer.
The Reds have struggled for goals this term, with both Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino failing to hit the back of the net with their usual regularity.
While Diogo Jota’s arrival at Liverpool has helped matters, he has spent a portion of the season out injured, and Jurgen Klopp’s lack of other options have been exposed.
Both Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri have been used in the forward positions at times, but the pair have never looked up to the quality required.
It now seems that Liverpool have made signing a new forward one of their top priorities.
And Castles says that FSG are willing to provide Klopp with the funds to sign a striker.

“My information is that Liverpool have a budget to sign a striker, who can also play wide, in the summer window and it’s a substantial budget,” Castles said.
“They’re looking for a player of similar type to Mo Salah. Now, I’m not saying that means Salah is leaving, I’m just saying that Liverpool are doing the proprietary work to sign a player of his type.”

With Liverpool also set to land a central defender this summer, the news that they can sign a striker looks seriously exciting.
Liverpool are clearly addressing the weaknesses in their squad which have been exposed this season.
And if the Reds get their recruitment right, then they surely will mount another title challenge next term.
