Manchester City claimed a 3-0 win against Everton over the weekend, yet the only player the Etihad Stadium crowd were singing about was club legend Sergio Aguero.
As reported by City Xtra, the Manchester faithful erupted into song over their former Argentine striker midway through the first half. As reported by the Telegraph, Aguero is set to retire from football soon.
The attacker, who left City this summer, was diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia last month after suffering chest pains while playing for new club Barcelona during a La Liga match.
Whilst the Catalan giants initially announced that Aguero would be out for three months, it appears that the 33-year-old City legend will now be calling time on his career.
Indeed, Aguero is City’s all-time leading goalscorer as well as the highest-scoring foreigner in the history of the Premier League. With the striker integral to the club’s rise in the English top-flight.
And as you would expect, this shocking update from last week was felt hard by City supporters, with Aguero going down as one of the club’s best-ever players.
