Before the start of Euro 2020, many were questioning West Ham and Leeds duo, Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips.

From whether they can play together in midfield or if the West Ham and Leeds favourites are experienced and good enough to perform on such a big stage.

Well, they both answered their critics in a pretty emphatic fashion at Euro 2020, despite it ending in utter heartbreak for those representing the Three Lions.

Rice posted an emotional message on his Instagram on Monday evening, with Phillips simply responding in the comments section with the words ‘my guy’.

Jarrod Bowen also told his club teammate that he has been ‘incredible’, whilst West Ham themselves shared how ‘proud’ they are of their player.

Boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn, also sent a message to the London-born player and told him that he had a ‘blinding tournament’.

There is no doubt that the stock of both Phillips and Rice has gone through the roof during this tournament.

On one hand, they were both outstanding to put England in a position they haven’t been in since 1966.

But, on the other hand, they suffered a gut-wrenching defeat which will probably haunt them for many, many years to come.

However, the bigger picture needs to be looked at here and how these two players are the future for England in the long term.
