Bundesliga ace Karim Onisiwo has not given up on his Premier League dream with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool his ‘favourite’ destination, speaking to Austrian podcast Abstauber

Onisiwo dreaming of Liverpool feels like the guy who plays Chesney on Coronation Street auditioning for Quentin Tarantino’s latest three-hour yarn.

Set your sights high by all means. But don’t be surprised when you fall slightly short.

Now 29 years of age, Onisiwo himself admits that he has much to do if he is to secure a Premier League move before it’s too late.

The versatile forward has done a fine job during five seasons at Mainz, though he has never been the most prolific of goalscorers.

Onisiwo’s most prolific campaign came back in 2018/19, when he found the net just seven times.

Could Karim Onisiwo get a Premier League move?

“These are always wishes or dreams,” said the 12-time Austria international.

“My odds still have to improve so that a Premier League club at would be interested in me at my age. But I work hard on myself and try to improve every day.

“The Premier League is amazing, of course, and I would take any club. But my favourite club is Liverpool.”

Liverpool are unlikely to come calling any time soon – Jurgen Klopp can’t even find a regular role for ‘one of the best finishers I’ve ever seen’ at the moment.

But that doesn’t mean there are not a couple of Premier League clubs who would benefit from Onisiwo’s speed, skill and versatility in the final third.

Norwich City, for example, have scored just eight times so far and have a history when it comes to signing players from German football.

Burnley, Watford, Everton, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, Brighton and Wolves have also scored fewer than 20 times in the Premier League.
