Emile Smith-Rowe has said to The National that he is living the dream playing for Arsenal.

Smith-Rowe grew up supporting Arsenal, and came through the club’s academy system.

The playmaker has now gone on to make a handful of first-team appearances for the Gunners, and there are high hopes for his future.

Smith-Rowe has impressed out on loan at Huddersfield Town this season, and there are suggestions that he could make an impact on Arsenal’s first-team next term.

And the 19-year-old is desperately hoping that he can make the grade at the Emirates Stadium.

“My dream was always to play for Arsenal,” he said.

“I used to watch Thierry Henry a lot. Dennis Bergkamp was definitely a player I always looked up to. We play in a similar position. Freddie Ljungberg was there and he is working at Arsenal now, helping all the young players.”

Smith-Rowe’s first taste of regular first-team football has been hugely encouraging.

The Arsenal youngster has quickly become one of Huddersfield’s most dangerous players at Championship level, with his ability in possession really standing out.

Mikel Arteta has already proven willing to give Arsenal’s brightest prospects a chance, and Smith-Rowe will surely now be given an opportunity to impress the Spanish manager over pre-season.
