Atalanta flyer Timothy Castagne has admitted to RTBF that Brendan Rodgers played a major role in his decision to join Leicester City during the summer transfer window.
Although the deal has yet to be officially confirmed by either side, it seems only a matter of time before the Belgian international is announced as Ben Chilwell’s replacement at the King Power Stadium.
HLN reported this morning Castagne had agreed a five-year deal with Leicester, which would put him among the club’s top ten biggest signings.
The Foxes are expected to pay Champions League quarter-finalists Atalanta a cool £21.5 million.
And, speaking to RTBF, Castagne confirmed Rodgers’ personal touch and attack-minded approach were major reasons behind his decision to swap Bergamo for the Midlands.
“It has always been my dream to play in the Premier League. It was my priority league over other offers,” said the former Genk ace, who had also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur.

“I also like Leicester’s style of play, which should suit me. And the feeling with the manager is very good, he contacted me regularly.”
Castagne is a right-back by trade but has performed impressively on the opposite flank for club and country in recent times.
£21.5 million is hardly pennies but it’s not often you find a full-back who is as effective on the left as he is on the right.
