Tottenham Hotspur want Ridvan Yilmaz and the Besiktas ace admits to Hurriyet that playing in the Premier League is his ‘biggest dream’.
Whether that ‘dream’ becomes a reality in the upcoming summer transfer window remains to be seen.
But the 20-year-old Turkey international is determined to ensure that, if or when the opportunity does arrive, he is ready to make the most of it.
Amid reports suggesting that Yilmaz has informed Besiktas of his desire to join Antonio Conte in North London, the swashbuckling left-back admits that he is already undergoing two hours a day of English lessons (Turkiye Gazetesi).
Adapting to a new club, a new league and a new culture always brings it’s fair share of challenges.
But, clearly, Yilmaz is desperate to ensure that the language barrier is an obstacle that can be overcome sooner rather than later.
Tottenham want Ridvan Yilmaz
“If I am in a position to make money for my club like Cenk Tosun (who joined Everton for £27 million in 2018), I will not resist,” says Yilmaz, who has four assists and three goals this season and idolises the likes of Marcelo and Alphonso Davis.
“Of course, every player has a goal. Playing in England is my biggest dream. Why not one day?
“I’m at the beginning of my journey. I have many things to learn. I am improving every day and I am constantly working to make up for my lack of physicality and fitness.
“By the way, I take English lessons for two hours a day.”

Sergio Reguilon’s replacement?
According to Turkiye Gazetesi, Tottenham have seen an opening offer of around £6.7 million rejected. But Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Cebi will not stand in Yilmaz’s way if Spurs return with another bid, admitting that the highly-rated 20-year-old can leave for a fee in the region of £8.5 million.
