Carayol joined Forest this summer from Middlesbrough.
Nottingham Forest summer signing Mustapha Carayol has told the club’s official Twitter account that he is delighted to have finally got his move to the club after a switch to the City Ground collapsed on numerous previous occasions.
Carayol joined Forest on a permanent deal from newly-promoted Premier League side Middlesbrough earlier this summer after enduring a frustrating last couple of seasons.
The Gambian star did not play a single game for Boro in either 2014-15 or last season, with injury limiting him to just five appearances in a loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion two years ago.
Last term he spent time on loan at Yorkshire sides Huddersfield Town and Leeds United, and he left the Riverside permanently to join Forest this summer.
The 28-year-old revealed that he could have been a Forest player much sooner had several attempts at making the move not broken down in the past.
Carayol said, via Forest’s official Twitter account: “There have been a few times where Forest have been interested in me and it has fallen through. I was delighted to get it done this time.
“I’m thankful to both Middlesbrough and Forest for getting the deal done. I can’t wait to get playing football again now.
“Last season was tough for me because I was afraid of getting injured again. But now I’m fully confident and ready to kick on.”
Carayol also went on to highlight what he sees as his main role for his new club on the pitch, suggesting that his focus will be on creating goals rather than scoring them.
The winger added: “My main job is to provide the strikers with chances to score and reach their targets. I’m looking forward to getting started.”
Carayol is yet to make his debut for Forest but is available for their trip to Villa Park to face Aston Villa on Saturday.
