The two have formed a quick relationship in the heart of the Arsenal defence.

Arsenal star Shkodran Mustafi has told the club’s official website that his budding partnership with Laurent Koscielny is built on their shared footballing styles.
The German defender joined the Gunners in the summer transfer window in a big-money move from Valencia.
He has quickly become a vital component in Arsene Wenger’s team, playing a key role in their strong start to the campaign.
His partnership alongside France star Koscielny has been particularly impressive, with the duo quickly forming the kind of defensive basis that has been sorely lacking from the Gunners team for a number of years.

When asked how they have managed that, Mustafi says it is because the duo share a similar footballing style.
“We are quite similar in the style of playing, he understands things that I do, I understand things that he does,” Mustafi told Arsenal Player.
“If you play with someone who understands football in a different way, it’s even more difficult to get on with.”
“But if you have someone next to you that sees football the same way you see football and that you think football, I think it’s easier to play with.”

Arsenal will now be hoping that Koscielny and Mustafi continue to develop their partnership into a strong one in the months to come.
So far they have been impressive, with the Gunners conceding just seven goals so far, the fourth best record in the division.
They will need to keep that kind of form up for the remainder of the campaign if they are to be title challengers come the end of it.
