Everton are searching for a new manager after sacking Ronald Koeman last month.
Everton’s search for a new manager goes on, but one option who has ruled himself out of contention is Sam Allardyce.
The Toffees sacked manager Ronald Koeman last month after a torrid start to the season, and caretaker boss David Unsworth has stepped in to take charge of their last four games.
Unsworth will again be in charge of this weekend’s game against Crystal Palace, given that Everton have failed with moves for new managers this week.
Sky Sports report that Watford rejected their bid for Marco Silva, and the same report even claimed that Sam Allardyce had pulled out of the race after disappointing talks on Sunday.
Now, Allardyce has addressed the situation, telling talkSPORT that he didn’t feel wanted by the Toffees, and their hesitation made Allardyce realise that he wasn’t the man for the job, so has withdrawn himself from consideration.
The 63-year-old has been out of work since leaving Crystal Palace at the end of last season, and and seemingly won’t be returning any time soon having pulled out of the Everton race.
Allardyce’s comments have sparked a reaction amongst Everton fans, with many of them delighted that Allardyce is no longer in contention to replace Koeman, describing his comments as ‘music to the ears’.
Others aren’t quite so impressed with the situation, highlighting that Everton are struggling to find a manager – but the majority of fans actually celebrated Everton’s indecision, as it means that Allardyce won’t be anywhere near Goodison Park.
