Rangers look set to keep Alfredo Morelos at Ibrox.

According to the Daily Record, Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has set his heart on staying at Ibrox despite speculation linking him with a move away from Glasgow.
The Gers swooped to land Morelos from HJK Helsinki over the summer, taking a chance on the Colombian striker after his impressive record of 46 goals in 62 games for the Finnish side.
So far, Rangers decision to gamble on Morelos has paid off, as the 21-year-old hitman has smashed 15 goals in 30 games in call competitions this season, becoming a fan favourite at Ibrox.

However, Morelos’ goalscoring exploits have attracted interest, particularly from Chinese clubs in recent weeks, whilst the Daily Record add that teams in South America and Europe were also keen on Morelos, with a total of seven teams interested.
The report does though note that Morelos has now set his heart on staying at Ibrox, and talks over a new contract are set to begin soon, with a view to boosting his £7,000-a-week wages with Graeme Murty’s men.
Given that Murty told BBC Sport just two weeks ago that Morelos was ‘confused’ after interest from Beijin Renhe, Rangers fans should now treat the striker’s commitment to the club as music to their ears.

Whilst Murty would have been able to reinvest a huge fee from any Morelos sale, Rangers’ only chance of catching Celtic is to keep their best players, and Morelos certainly fits that bill.
A fully focused Morelos is a major asset to Rangers, and his desire to stay at Ibrox may breed similar vibes from other key players, and aid Rangers’ attempts to cerate a team that can truly challenge Celtic down the line.
