Rangers face Hamilton at Ibrox on Saturday in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers interim manager Graeme Murty will have numerous selection headaches going into Saturday’s clash against Hamilton at Ibrox, but an attacking reshuffle should be at the forefront of his mind.
Alfredo Morelos has failed to score in his last eight league and cup outings for the Scottish giants, and the Colombia Under-20 international should be dropped in order to give the Gers more confidence in the final third.
Veteran attacker Kenny Miller has shone for the Gers since Murty re-assumed his position as interim manager, being deployed alongside Morelos in a 4-4-2 system but dropping deep at times into an attacking midfield role.
Morelos has had chances to end his goal drought, but with nine-time Mexico international Eduardo Herrera waiting in the wings for a chance to show his true colours at Ibrox, the former HJK Helsinki ace should be axed.
Herrera, 29, reportedly cost the Gers £1.5million fee but is yet to prove his transfer fee in the matches he has been given this season by both Murty and former manager Pedro Caixinha.
However, the former Pumas striker will feel aggrieved to have been given the ‘flop’ status by some sections of the Ibrox crowd as he has only started one of his 12 appearances this season.
Scoring two goals, Herrera offers both power and experience in the final third. With wingers Josh Windass and Daniel Candeias both in good form, the target man would thrive upon their deliveries in the penalty area.
Starting Rangers’ number 15 will give the Gers the best chance of making it three wins out of three for Murty, rather than continually looking for Morelos to break his duck.
