Murphy prefers Son Heung-min to Fernando Llorente in Kane’s absence

Son Heung-min is in great form for Tottenham Hotspur at the moment.

Danny Murphy has suggested in The London Evening Standard that Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino should deploy Son Heung-min as the striker during the period when Harry Kane is out on the sidelines.

According to The Mirror, England international striker Kane will be out of action for around six weeks due to damaged ankle ligaments.

Former Tottenham midfielder Murphy, who now works as a pundit for talkSPORT and BBC Sport, has suggested that Pochettino should deploy Son down the middle instead of Spain international striker Fernando Llorente, who was signed by Spurs from Swansea City in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Sun to be worth £12 million as a back-up to Kane.

Murphy wrote in The London Evening Standard: “I like Fernando Llorente but Son is flying high, in form and scoring goals.

“Your striker needs to be someone who is a threat in front of goal and his record at the moment is good.”

Sensible suggestion

Llorente has struggled for Tottenham so far this season, and the former Juventus star does not appear to be in great confidence at the moment.

Son, who can operate as a winger or as a forward and joined Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £22m, is in great form at the moment, and the South Korea international is scoring goals for fun.

For Spurs to not feel the full affect of Kane’s absence in the next few weeks, Pochettino should use Son as the player down the middle instead of Llorente.
