The winger scored his first goal for Newcastle United at the weekend.

Given their current predicament, which sees them in 15th place in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone, Newcastle United need to make the very most of the options that they have at their disposal.
Jacob Murphy has taken some time to adapt to playing in the Premier League, but the winger has shown some signs of improvement of late and found the net in Newcastle’s 3-1 defeat away to Manchester City at the weekend; his first strike since joining the club last summer.

The result certainly wasn’t what Newcastle needed in their battle to avoid relegation, but Murphy’s performance did at least give the travelling supporters something to be optimistic about going into the remaining games this season.
In recent games Murphy appears to be playing with increased confidence and his strike against City will provide the 22-year-old with further belief that he can make a major impact in the top tier of English football.

There is much work for Newcastle to do in order to secure their top flight status and time is running out for them to improve their squad in the transfer market, meaning that some of their existing players must step up.
Murphy appears ready to rise to the challenge and will now aim to become a regular on the scoresheet for Rafael Benitez’s side.
