Celtic will face Mark Warburton’s Glasgow Rangers at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership this weekend.
Murdo MacLeod has suggested to The Glasgow Evening Times that Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths will be a key player against Rangers this weekend.
Celtic will take on Old Firm rivals Rangers at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon.
Former Celtic midfielder MacLeod has underlined the importance of Scotland international striker Griffiths for the match against the Gers.
“In any Old Firm game you need people who can score goals and when you have got Griffiths fully fit, that is so important because I think he is the one that will get goals,” MacLeod told The Glasgow Evening Times.
“I think that is the priority number one. Griffiths is the guy you look at that is going to score, whether from outside the box or inside the box. He is a predator and he will score goals for you at all levels.”
Griffiths is arguably the best striker in the Scottish Premiership and is one of the best players at Celtic.
The Scotland international has a hamstring injury at the moment, but Brendan Rodgers’s side will hope that he recovers in time for the match against Rangers this weekend.
The 26-year-old has been in good form this season, and his presence in the Celtic starting lineup is going to enhance the home team’s chances of winning in Glasgow.
Celtic will head into the match against Rangers on the back of a 4-1 victory over Aberdeen at Celtic Park.
Mark Warburton’s side will head into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock away from home at Rugby Park in the league.
