Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong is reportedly wanted by West Bromwich Albion and Southampton among other clubs in the summer transfer window.

Murdo MacLeod has told The Daily Record that Celtic should not sell Stuart Armstrong in the summer transfer window.

Armstrong is one of the best players at Celtic and was in brilliant form for Brendan Rodgers’s side during the 2016-17 campaign.

The 25-year-old midfielder was a key player in the Hoops winning the Scottish Premiership, the Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup last season.

The Scotland international’s performances have not gone unnoticed in the Premier League, as he has been linked with moves to the top flight of English football in the summer transfer window.

Southampton are interested in signing Armstrong from Celtic, according to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 63, July 2, 2017).

According to the report, the Saints would have to pay about £10 million in order to secure the services of the 25-year-old midfielder (click here to read more).

The Express have credited Premier League trio West Bromwich Albion, Everton and Brighton & Hove Albion with interest in the former Dundee United star.

Former Celtic midfielder MacLeod, who is 58 years of age, has suggested that the Glasgow giants should not sell Armstrong in the summer transfer window.

“Stuart Armstrong will be on the radar of clubs down south,” MacLeod told The Daily Record. “He is a superb midfielder who can score goals and has pace plus good awareness.

“Armstrong is a player Celtic could cash in on now but he would benefit from another season in Scotland. Verdict: Keep.”
