The Rangers-linked midfielder Bongani Zungu has told two of his teammates he’ll miss them, amid reports Steven Gerrard’s side have ‘revived their interest’.
The Scotsman made the claim earlier this week, adding that a deal is ‘far from dead’ and denying suggestions that Zungu had previously failed a medical at Rangers.
The South Africa international had found himself frozen out by Amiens and made to train away from the first team, having entered the final year of his contract with the club and failed to commit to a new one.
But, despite a surprise return to action at the weekend, Zungu appeared to say goodbye to his Unicorns colleagues Chadrac Akolo and Nicholas Opoku – who only recently returned to the French side on loan – on Instagram yesterday (Wednesday).
Amiens are holding out for €4 million (around £3.6m) for Zungu – who posted the following message on Twitter earlier this week – according to The Scotsman.
But Rangers may be holding out for a cheaper deal, knowing that Zungu can sign a pre-contract agreement to join them on a free next summer, from January.
Rangers, whose manager Gerrard has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his options in central midfield, are said to have competition for his signature from clubs in La Liga, as well as Olympiacos.
