Watford pulled off a surprise deal to sign young striker Sam Dalby from Leeds United last month.

Dalby has gone into Watford’s youth side, and made an immediate impact.

He scored a hat-trick against RB Leipzig in a friendly and has made a big impression.

Coach Hayden Mullins told the club’s official website he is pleased with Dalby, citing his technical ability.

He said: “He’s a big strong boy and links the play really well and is real tidy in possession,

“He has come in from Leeds and is an honest willing boy who really helps the team in and out of possession.

“He starts the press and is very reliable with the ball at his feet: we can play into him and he gives us a nice option as it sticks when it goes up to him. But he knows where the goal is too and is a welcome addition.”

Watford fans arrive at the stadium prior to the Premier League match between Watford and Manchester City at Vicarage Road on September 16, 2017 in Watford, England.

Dalby had a poor loan spell at Morecambe last season which saw him fall of the radar at Leeds.

He already has first team experience after breaking into Leyton Orient’s first team and is still only 18.

Dalby had a fast start to his Leeds career too, instantly impressing for their under-23 side.

He lost momentum amid competition for places, and needs to ensure that he can keep up his fast start at Watford and take advantage of his new opportunity.
