Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Chris Sutton has attempted to predict the result of Newcastle United vs Aston Villa this weekend.
These are two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, but their recent fortunes couldn’t be any more different.
Newcastle have been flying and currently sit in the top four, while Villa have started slowly this season, but they look to have found a bit of form after a 4-0 win against Brentford at the weekend.
Unai Emery won’t be in the dugout for this one, but the Villans will hope to continue something of a ‘new-manager bounce’ after Steven Gerrard’s departure.
Despite Villa’s recent upturn, Sutton believes that Newcastle will come away with the three points here, predicting the Magpies to win 2-0.

Newcastle 2-0 Aston Villa
Sutton gave his prediction for this game and gave his reasoning.
“Unai Emery is Aston Villa’s new manager but caretaker boss Aaron Danks will be in charge again for this game after overseeing their 4-0 win over Brentford last time out,” Sutton said.
“This is a much tougher task for Villa. I really like the way Newcastle are shaping up under Eddie Howe – they are in the top four and with a bit more luck they could have picked up even more points and be even higher in the table.”
Tough
Villa will be desperate to string together a few results to propel themselves up the Premier League table after a poor start, but this is a very tough task.
Newcastle have been absolutely brilliant this season, they’ve lost just one game in the league and they deserve nothing less.
Villa have a squad talented enough to challenge any team, and now they have a manager to mastermind that, but with Emery not in the dugout this weekend, Villa won’t have that boost just yet.
The Midlands club may lose here, but there is no shame in being beaten by this Newcastle side.
