Hugo Lloris admitted to BBC Sport that Arsenal were ‘much better’ and ‘more aggressive’ than Tottenham in the first half of their North London derby showdown on Sunday.

In regards to Alexandre Lacazette’s penalty, the Spurs shot-stopper was pretty honest and made it clear that his side ‘generally have to do better’.

After starting off as the brighter side, Erik Lamela hit Arsenal with one of the great goals of the North London derby when his Rabona found the back of the net.

But Arsenal fought back and, aside from the final 15 minutes, they were the better team yesterday.

It’s something Lloris admitted and Arsenal fans will love his honesty after the game.

“The feeling is that in the first half they were much better than us, more aggressive,” said Lloris.

“We scored a goal and I think we should have managed the game better and not conceded just before half time.

“In the second half, it was a bit better but we had to wait to get a red card to increase our intensity. Then we were close to coming back, but in the end, it’s a loss and a big disappointment.

On the penalty:  “I haven’t seen the images, to be honest. I think as a player when you analyse the game you analyse it as a whole, it is too easy to go deep on one or two actions. Generally, we have to do better.”

Whilst all of this is worth it for Arsenal fans right now, they have to make sure they don’t dampen the mood on Thursday.

Mikel Arteta’s men should progress through to the next round of the Europa League given their two-goal cushion but they cannot afford to mess up.

It could be argued that they have a small chance of getting into the top-seven, even though they will still push during these final few months, so doing the business in the Europa League is needed.
