Spurs kicked off their Europa League campaign with a 3-1 victory over Qarabag at White Hart Lane.
Hugo Lloris: 6/10
A relatively quiet night for the Frenchman, was beaten by an excellent penalty but handled the few efforts that came his way well.
Kieran Trippier: 4/10
Not the debut he would have hoped for – dived in naively for the penalty, was given trouble by the Qarabag wide man and failed to offer a great deal going forward.
Toby Alderweireld: 6/10
Fairly untroubled and was as calm and composed as has been his trademark since arriving.
Kevin Wimmer: 6/10
Will be happy with his debut, no mistakes and showed the ball-playing skills necessary to be a centre-back in this Spurs side.
Danny Rose: 6/10
Like his right-sided counterpart, struggled initially against his winger and was lucky not to give away a goal after chesting the ball into the path of a Qarabag attacker only for him to sky over. Much improved in the second half.
Eric Dier: 6/10
Solid enough display from the Spurs midfield general. Went off with a knock late on and Mauricio Pochettino will now be sweating over his fitness. (Substituted for Harry Winks in the 76th minute)
Tom Carroll: 6/10
Brought his usual high tempo passing to the side and was effective in pressing the opposition midfield.
Andros Townsend: 5/10
Delivered a great corner for Son’s first goal but didn’t do much else. A missed opportunity after his excellent cameo on the weekend. (Substituted for Clinton N’Jie in the 68th minute)
Dele Alli: 9/10 MOTM
The 19-year old was simply superb. A complete box-to-box performance and was involved in everything good that Spurs produced.
Erik Lamela: 7/10
As ever with the Argentine, went from the sublime to the farcical over the course of the 90 minutes, but his well-taken goal and heavy involvement in most of Spurs’ forward play warrants a high rating.
Heung-Min Son: 8/10
Did as well as can be expected in a semi-unfamiliar striker role. Took his two goals efficiently and showed great pace, technique and directness. Looks the real deal. (Substituted for Harry Kane in the 68th minute)
Substitutes:
Harry Kane: 6/10
Pressed excellently and won the ball back several times, showed great endeavour to retrieve possession before putting the ball on a plate for Lamela’s strike.
Harry Winks: 6/10
Came on for the injured Dier and did his job well. Misplaced a couple of passes but showed a great engine and tidy technique – looks another real prospect.
Clinton N’Jie: 5/10
Showed glimpses of his pace and willingness to run in behind the backline but wasn’t heavily involved.
