Claude Puel
Southampton today confirmed Claude Puel as their new manager, via their official website, with the Frenchman signing a three-year contract.
The 54-year old replaces Ronald Koeman at the helm and the new Saints boss is certainly something of an unknown quantity here in England.
He has pedigree in France however, managing Monaco, Lille, Lyon and most recently Nice. He led Nice to an impressive top four finish last season before leaving in May and other career highlights include a league title with Monaco and a Champions League semi-final with Lyon.

Puel is known for his commitment to promoting from within and it’s an ethos which will complement the Saints’ revered academy.
Southampton are a club which have become accustomed to change year in year out and they have managed to adapt and thrive after losing key figures such as Mauricio Pochettino, Adam Lallana and Morgan Schneiderlin in recent seasons.

This summer has already seen Ronald Koeman leave to manage Everton, Sadio Mane head to Liverpool and Victor Wanyama join Spurs but Puel will be determined to steady the ship and focus on the future in the weeks to come.
