The former MK Dons man is the Gers’ latest summer signing.
Lee Hodson has spoken of his excitement to play in front of a packed house at Ibrox, in an interview with Rangers TV.
The 24-year-old joined the Gers yesterday on a three-year deal from League One side MK Dons and is eager to turn out for the home team at Ibrox after experiencing it as an opposition player.
“I made my debut at Ibrox and it was one of those games where, when I signed for Kilmarnock, I was so excited for,” said Hodson.
“Lee McCulloch was the manager there at the time when I first went on loan and he was telling us ‘wait until you you go to Ibrox, there’s nothing like it’ with the atmosphere and the fans.
“It was one of those moments where you think ‘this is what football is all about,” he added.
Hodson joined Kilmarnock on loan in February and quickly established himself as an important squad member, picking up valuable SPL experience in the process.
His stint with Killie means he will know what to expect with Rangers as they bid to challenge Celtic for the title next season and the decision to join Mark Warburton’s project came easy for the Northern Irishman.
“The fanbase it has is amazing and now, when I got the opportunity, there was nothing to think about. I had to take it and I’m delighted to be here,” said Hodson.
The defender is the latest arrival in Warburton’s summer reshuffle and will provide James Tavernier with stern competition at right-back.
Tavernier was one of the standout performers last season and his battle with Hodson for a first-team spot will be intriguing.
It is a second successive summer of change at Ibrox and Warburton’s main task will be ensuring the new additions to his squad gel as quickly as possible in order to come out of the blocks flying in August.
