Frank Lampard in action with Pierre Hojbjerg
Southampton new boy Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has revealed the key factors in his decision to swap the Allianz Arena for St.Mary’s, in an interview with the club’s official site.
The 20-year old joins the Saints on a five-year deal for a fee believed to be around £12.8 million – according to BBC Sport – and says the club’s commitment to youth development was key in convincing him to make the move.

“It makes it a little more comfortable and it’s also one of the reasons why I choose it here,” said the former Bayern Munich man.
Hojbjerg was also impressed with the facilities at the club and spoke of his affinity with the family-like atmosphere present at Southampton, adding:
“It’s extraordinary and I think we are really lucky now that we have good pitches, good facilities outside the pitch and good people around it.”
“ I have the feeling here that it is a family and together you fight for it and achieve only as a team, that is also who I am. I fight for the team to find my pleasure. I fight for the team to be part of a good group which is what hopefully we will get here.”

Summers of upheaval have become commonplace at Southampton and this year has proved no different. The losses of former boss Ronald Koeman, Sadio Mane and Victor Wanyama have all been blows, but the arrival of Claude Puel, the signing of Nathan Redmond and now Hojbjerg suggest they will cope with the departures once again.

The Danish midfielder is a technical operator who is strong in possession, versatile and has an excellent passing range.
His development under Pep Guardiola should give Saints fans some indication of his quality and at just 20-years old, he is experienced beyond his years, with 63 senior club appearances and 15 caps for his country.
