Spurs will compete in the Champions League group stages next season.
Tottenham’s Erik Lamela in action
Tottenham midfielder Erik Lamela has spoken of his confidence ahead of a return to the Champions League, in an interview with the club’s official site.
Spurs will compete in Europe’s premier competition for the first time since reaching the quarter finals back in 2011, and the Argentine feels he and his teammates are capable of a similarly successful showing.
“For us at Spurs, it will be nice to be in the Champions League next season as well,” said the 24-year old.

“Obviously we didn’t play in it the last couple of years that I’ve been here but it will be great for this team to be in the Champions League, for sure.
“I think we can perform well in Europe – we have the right team to compete. We hope that those who play for their national teams come back strong, play well in pre-season and play well from the beginning of our season.”
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
Lamela has emerged as one of Tottenham’s most important players, after initially struggling, and is now established as one of Mauricio Pochettino’s first-choice attacking midfielders.
The Spurs boss demands aggressive closing down from the front and none implement his methods more diligently than the former AS Roma man.
Tottenham enjoyed their best ever Premier League campaign last season but will need an equally successful transfer window this summer if they are to mount a challenge on both domestic and European fronts.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy
Pochettino has a reliable 14/15 players to choose from but the quality beyond that drops considerably and has limited his ability to rotate effectively – possibly the cause behind the Lilywhites’ end of season collapse.
He and Daniel Levy are no doubt hard at work identifying the targets to take Spurs to the next level and the next few months, as ever, should be interesting over at White Hart Lane.
