Leicester City’s 4-1 defeat at Manchester United means the Foxes have now equalled the amount of league games they lost in the whole of last season.
Demarai Gray has vowed to put Leicester City’s crushing 4-1 defeat at Manchester United behind them as they look to bounce back with another famous European night during an interview with the club’s official website.
A defensive first-half horror show saw last season’s Premier League champions ship four goals, with three resulting from corners. The Red Devils were ruthless in their execution, but for the Foxes there were no signs of the confidence, togetherness or steel that moulded their quest for the title last season.
Gray was one of the few in a blue shirt to emerge from the game with any credit, replacing Riyad Mahrez at half-time before rifling home a 30-yard consolation strike.
Speaking to LCFC TV, Gray said “Obviously it was a difficult first half and to go down the way we did was disappointing. It’s something that everyone will hold their hands up to and it’s definitely something we can learn from. We’ll move on from it.”
Chris Smalling had given the hosts the lead with a header midway through the first half, before quickfire strikes from Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba immediately before half-time killed Leicester’s hopes of taking something away from Old Trafford.
“It was five minutes of madness in the first half which knocked us down but I thought it was important that in the second half we got back together and were more compact,” he said.
“We made a few changes and it was a better performance in the second half so all we can do is regroup and learn from it now. There’s always a game round the corner, so over the next few days we’ll work on a few things.”
Leicester are back in action on Tuesday night, welcoming former European champions FC Porto to the KC Stadium as the Foxes look to pick up another three points in the Champions League.
