The goalkeeper didn’t feature as West Ham lost to Manchester City on Sunday.
David Moyes had no choice but to leave Joe Hart out of the side for West Ham United’s defeat to Manchester City yesterday, with the goalkeeper ineligible to feature against his parent club, and there is little reason to suggest that he should return to the side any time soon.
Although he conceded twice at the Etihad Stadium, Adrian produced an impressive display on his first Premier League appearance as he made some impressive stops and did enough to suggest that he deserves to retain his place in the starting line-up when West Ham host Chelsea on Saturday.
As he was during his stint with Torino last season, Hart has been wholly unconvincing during his time at West Ham, as evidenced by the fact that he has conceded an alarming 30 goals in 14 Premier League appearances, while he has kept just three clean sheets.
Hart has provided very little authority in the West Ham goal and when facing a shot often either doesn’t dive at all or does so far too late.
Dropping Hart is certainly a big decision for Moyes to make so early in his West Ham tenure, but it is a necessary one, with Adrian much more likely to come to his side’s rescue than the England international.
