The versatile West Ham star has been impressive of late.
Having secured his first win as West Ham United manager with the victory over Chelsea at the weekend, David Moyes will be looking to guide his side to another three points when Arsenal visit London Stadium on Wednesday night.
Moyes is becoming increasingly familiar with his West Ham squad and is in the process of assessing which of the players at his disposal can be the most useful in the club’s quest to avoid relegation.
Michail Antonio is certainly an important part of Moyes’ plans, albeit not perhaps in the position that he expected.
Antonio, who missed the first couple of games of Moyes’ tenure due to injury, has started up front in West Ham’s last two games – the defeat to Manchester City and the victory against Chelsea.
On both occasions, Antonio, despite being unable to find the net, made a significant contribution, with his direct running causing difficulties for the opposing defenders.
Antonio is excellent technically and, given that he is usually deployed as a winger, has no qualms about drifting into wide areas and creating space for his team-mates to run into.
West Ham will look to cause problems for an Arsenal defence that has been vulnerable of late and Antonio is certainly capable of unsettling them.
Antonio is certainly capable of wearing the Arsenal backline down and Moyes then has the option of introducing another forward, such as Andy Carroll or Diafra Sakho, in the second half to take advantage of the Gunners’ tiring legs.
