Sunderland boss David Moyes has told The Northern Echo that he won’t be signing any more free agents unless a player gets injured.
The Black Cats endured a frustrating deadline day as they were only able to bring in defender Jason Denayer and midfielder Didier Ndong from Manchester City and Lorient respectively.

However, Moyes has used the free agent market to his advantage, as striker Victor Anichebe – who worked with Moyes at former club Everton – has joined on a free transfer having left West Bromwich Albion, with free agents able to join clubs outside of the transfer window.
Anichebe could feature against Everton tonight, and many have wondered whether Sunderland will look to sign more free agents in an attempt to boost their thin squad.

The Mirror claimed over the weekend that Martin Caceres was a target for Sunderland having left Juventus at the end of his contract this past summer, with the 29-year-old seeking a new club.
A La Liga title winner with Barcelona and five-time Serie A champion at Juventus, Caceres boasts a track record of success, but he may not be heading to the Stadium of Light after all.
Speaking to The Northern Echo, manager Moyes was asked whether more free agents could follow Anichebe to Wearside, but he suggested that any other moves will only occur if current Sunderland players suffer injuries.
Moyes added that he has been offered a host of players but seemingly won’t be making any more moves, and discussed Sunderland’s mixed end to the summer transfer window whilst already looking ahead to the January transfer window.

“A lot of free transfers are being offered in a lot of positions,” he said. “I can name you half-a-dozen that have been put to me in the last few days. But I am not going to bring in any more players unless there is a bad injury or something. I would rather now see if we can get some quality, and look to see what we might purchase or be available to me in January if possible.”
“There were bits of it I wasn’t happy with in the window, or that I thought was disappointing, but there were also bits I thought were good. It was the first transfer window and it was a short one. We had to try to get enough in to give us a real chance,” he added.
