Joe Hart joined West Ham United on a season-long loan in the summer.
Hammers boss David Moyes spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference yesterday, and responded to questions asking him if he will be cutting Joe Hart’s loan deal short before tomorrow’s transfer deadline, as quoted by the Evening Standard.
The 30-year-old joined West Ham on a season-long loan from Manchester City in the summer, but lost his place in the starting XI to Adrian in November, after he was ineligible to face his former club.
Unfortunately for the England international, the Spaniard has really impressed since then, and has grasped his opportunity with both hands.
The Times claimed yesterday that Hart is keen to leave the Hammers, in order to gain more regular first-team action, with Newcastle a potential destination.
Moyes, though, insisted that the West Ham stopper is going nowhere this month, when speaking to reporters, as quoted by the Evening Standard:
“No, no. You can talk as much as you like about it (cutting the deal short) but we’ve got no intentions. Adrian has got to be at his best in all the games. I’ve got tight competition. I’ve got England’s goalkeeper which will keep Adrian on his toes. That’s obvious. In a way I’m quite happy with that because I need the goalkeepers to play really well for us to win the games and stay away from the bottom end of the league. At every opportunity, when I think it is right, I will play Joe Hart.”
The problem for Hart is that with the Hammers now out of both cup competitions, they only have Premier League football to focus on, and if Adrian keeps performing in the manner in which he has been recently, the Englishman will find it hard to get any game-time at all.
So if he is to stay in east London, he will surely need some assurances from Moyes regarding his playing time.
