Sunderland are currently embroiled in a relegation scrap.
Speaking to reporters during his pre-match press conference, Black Cats boss David Moyes responded to comments made by Jeremain Lens, and did not hold back on his opinion of the 29-year-old, as quoted by the Mirror.
The Dutch attacking midfielder was quoted by the Sun as saying:
“I would like to stay for many years at Fenerbahce but it’s not just for me to look at. I do not want to talk about my contract, but many things will be easier if Sunderland drop down. Let’s wait and see.”

And Moyes was understandably furious, when quizzed on Lens’ comments, admitting it will now be very difficult for him to ever play for Sunderland again, as quoted by the Mirror:
“I think it’s disgracefully disrespectful to the club who hold his registration. You would hate to think that anyone connected to the club would say that. When he left people thought, “What you doing get rid of him? I don’t know if anybody would want him back at the club now. If the quotes are correct then I think it would be very hard for that to happen.”

Lens moved to Fenerbahce on the penultimate day of the summer transfer window’s closure on a season-long loan, and has actually proven to be a revelation for the Turkish outfit, scoring three goals and chipping in with seven assists during his 13 appearances so far this term.
He moved to the Stadium of Light in the summer of 2015, for a fee believed to be in the region of £8 million, and is still under contract with the Wearsiders until June 2019.
But quite where he will be playing his football next season is anyone’s guess, although the smart money would be on his future lying away from Sunderland.
